Russian forces struck the parking lot near the Manufaktura shopping center in central Sumy on the evening of September 9, 2026, killing three people and wounding two others, according to regional and city officials.

The Attack and Its Victims

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, confirmed three fatalities from the drone strike on the shopping center area. Two more people sustained injuries. The city administration head, Serhiy Kryvosheyenko, pointed out that Russia carried out the attack at a deliberately chosen moment — when residents were returning from work and going shopping in the evening hours. Private vehicles in the parking lot caught fire as a result of the strike.
