Water supply company South East Water has announced that water services have been restored to the majority of affected properties in Kent following a supply disruption that left thousands of homes without running water. Around 7,400 properties have had their water supply reinstated, the company confirmed.

However, South East Water cautioned that approximately 400 homes in the villages of Benenden, Cranbrook, and Rolvenden continue to be affected by the disruption and remain without normal water supply. Engineers are working to resolve the remaining issues as quickly as possible.

The disruption caused significant inconvenience for residents across the affected areas, with households having to rely on bottled water or water distributed by the company through emergency tankers during the period of outage. South East Water apologised for the inconvenience caused to customers.

The company has not disclosed the specific cause of the supply failure but indicated that it was related to infrastructure issues in the local water network. Full restoration of services to all remaining affected properties is expected to be completed within the next few hours.

South East Water said it would continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates to affected customers. Anyone still experiencing water supply issues was urged to contact the company's customer service team for assistance and information about local water distribution points where bottled water remains available.
