Bihus.Info: Associates of Presidential Office Deputy Head Tatarov Acquired $1M Apartments in Kyiv

1 min read

Ukrainian investigative journalism outlet Bihus.Info has published a new investigation revealing that individuals from the orbit of Oleg Tatarov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine, have acquired high-value apartments in Kyiv over the past several years.

The Investigation

According to Bihus.Info, the apartments are located in two Kyiv residential buildings and are currently valued at over $1 million. Crucially, both buildings had originally been subject to agreements under which the state was to receive a share of the property — agreements that appear not to have been honoured.

Tatarov, a former law enforcement official who serves as one of the most influential figures in President Zelensky's administration, has previously been the subject of anti-corruption investigations. He was notoriously indicted in 2020 on charges related to bribing a judge, but the case was later transferred and charges dropped under disputed circumstances.

Context

The Bihus.Info investigation is part of a broader pattern of scrutiny of officials connected to the Presidential Office. Investigative journalists have tracked real estate and luxury assets acquired by officials or their associates, often involving state-linked construction projects where public obligations were not fulfilled.

The Presidential Office has not yet commented publicly on the findings.
