The body of a 44-year-old British Jewish man was discovered in a forested area on Kotsyubynsky Street in Uman on September 12, during Rosh Hashanah celebrations. He had arrived in Ukraine on August 10, 2026, and lived in London. He was a father of seven children.

Investigation Underway

Ukrainian police said they found no external signs of violent death and opened a case under Part 1, Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. However, The Jerusalem Post reported that signs of violence were present, creating conflicting accounts of the circumstances.

Uman hosts tens of thousands of Jewish pilgrims each year for Rosh Hashanah at the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the man's death.
