Colombia Earthquake: Family Records Narrow Escape as 7.4 Magnitude Quake Kills 132

A Colombian family recorded the terrifying moments of their escape just before a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck on Monday, violently shaking and ultimately collapsing their home.

Liliana Perez Ocampo said she and her family initially thought it was a minor tremor, common in Colombia, but when the shaking intensified after 30 seconds they realised the danger and fled. Her two children, who were at school at the time, were also unharmed.

The earthquake is one of the strongest to hit Colombia in recent years. It killed at least 132 people and prompted the government to declare a state of emergency in affected regions.
