Donetsk Oblast to Impose 19-Hour Daily Curfew From Nov. 1
From Nov. 1, a long curfew from 4 p.m. to 11 a.m. will apply across Donetsk Oblast except the Oleksandrivka and Cherkaske communities, regional head Vadym Filashkin announced on social media. He signed the order on Monday, Oct. 19.
In the Oleksandrivka and Cherkaske communities, the curfew stays unchanged for now, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Filashkin said the decision is driven by the security situation: Russian forces are intensifying shelling of settlements in the region, and the risks to civilians keep growing.
Appeal to residents
"I ask everyone to treat the new restrictions responsibly, plan movements in advance and comply with the requirements of military administrations and law enforcement. And I stress once more: there have long been no safe places in Donetsk Oblast. I urge people, especially families with children, not to wait for the next shelling and to leave for safer regions of Ukraine,"
he said. More in World.
