On the night of March 31, 2026, the Leningrad region of Russia faced yet another wave of drone strikes, resulting in infrastructure damage and casualties at the strategic Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga.
According to Alexander Drozdenko, the governor of the Leningrad region, air defense systems intercepted 38 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight. Despite these efforts, the threat persisted into the early hours, with active engagements reported in the Kingisepp and Vyborg districts.
Local Telegram channels, including Astra and Shot, corroborated the intensity of the assault. Residents reported hearing loud explosions and heavy gunfire echoing over Ust-Luga, as well as in the neighboring Kirishi, Luga, and Tosno districts. Governor Drozdenko confirmed that the strikes caused unspecified infrastructure damage and left several people injured.
This latest incident marks the seventh consecutive day of drone incursions targeting the Leningrad region. The sustained aerial campaign follows a significant operation on March 29, when the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) claimed responsibility for a successful strike on the Ust-Luga oil terminal.
