EU Allocates €2.86 Billion to Ukraine for Drones, Air Defense and Ammunition

1 min read

The European Commission has disbursed €2.86 billion to Ukraine under the defense component of the €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan. The funds are earmarked for the purchase of drones, air defense systems, missiles, radar stations, electronic warfare systems, and ammunition.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated: "While Russia stands still on the front line, it continues to intensify its air attacks, brutally striking Ukraine's civilian population and infrastructure. Europe's unwavering support is more crucial than ever to help Ukraine protect its airspace and save lives."

With Ukraine preparing for its fourth winter since Russia's full-scale invasion began, the Commission emphasized that the urgent delivery of defense equipment will help the Ukrainian Armed Forces protect civilians and cities from Russian strikes.

Since 2022, the EU and its member states have provided Ukraine with total support of €231.5 billion, including €3.8 billion from proceeds generated by frozen Russian assets.
