EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas announced she is working to mobilise an additional EUR 1 billion for Ukraine from the European Peace Facility (EPF). Kallas said she is currently in consultations with EU member states to secure the allocation.
"We can allocate another one billion euros. I am in consultations with member states," Kallas stated. The funds from the EPF are used to reimburse EU countries for military equipment and supplies donated to Ukraine.
The European Peace Facility has been a key mechanism for channelling military assistance to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, having already disbursed several billion euros.
