Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced on September 16 that the European Union is preparing to impose sanctions on 27 Russian individuals and organizations linked to the deportation and ideological indoctrination of Ukrainian children. The announcement was made via social media platform X.
Sybiha highlighted further developments: Lithuania has allocated €600,000 to Ukrainian organizations working to return and rehabilitate deported children. New Zealand joined the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children as its 51st member.
Ukraine has consistently documented Russia's mass deportation of Ukrainian children to Russian territory since the start of the full-scale invasion, calling it a war crime. The International Criminal Court has already issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin related to these deportations.
