1 min read

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas stated on Saturday that Europe will not ease pressure on Russia, responding directly to the deal reached between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kallas published her statement on social network X, and it was cited by European Pravda.

Over 80 civilians killed in two days of Russian strikes

Kallas pointed to the ongoing human cost of the conflict: more than 80 Ukrainian civilians have been killed by Russian strikes over just two days. She also warned that Russia has stepped up hybrid warfare activities against EU member states and NATO allies, not only targeting Ukraine.

Europe will not suspend Russian diesel sanctions

The EU diplomat made clear that Europe will not suspend sanctions on Russian diesel exports, which form part of the Trump-Putin agreement. 'This is not the time to ease pressure on Russia, and Europe will not do it,' her statement read. The EU position is that relaxing economic pressure on Moscow at this moment would undermine prospects for a just peace in Ukraine.
