Ex-Prosecutor Kravchenko's Mother-in-Law Invested in Dubai Real Estate

1 min read

Ukrainian investigative outlet Skhemy (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Ukrainian investigative unit) and other outlets have published findings showing that the mother-in-law of Kostiantyn Kravchenko, a former senior official in Ukraine's prosecutor's office, is the registered owner of a luxury villa in Dubai's high-end residential market.

The property is valued in the range of millions of US dollars, prompting journalists to ask how a relative of a state official could afford such an acquisition. Ukraine's anti-corruption framework requires officials and their close relatives to declare assets, but enforcement of offshore property disclosure has historically been inconsistent.

Kravchenko, who served in senior prosecutorial roles during a period when Ukraine's law enforcement institutions faced major criticism over selectivity and corruption, has not yet publicly commented on the findings.

The case fits a broader pattern documented by Ukrainian and international investigative journalists: significant assets, often real estate in UAE, Turkey, or EU countries, held by current or former Ukrainian officials' families, acquired during periods when their official salaries would not plausibly account for such wealth.
