Russia carried out a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine overnight on October 14, with Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and Kharkiv region bearing the brunt. The Russian military fired 39 ballistic missiles and deployed 128 drones; Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 4 missiles and 115 drones.

According to the Kyiv city prosecutor's office, the evening attack on the Desnyansky district killed three women and wounded 19 people, including a seven-year-old girl who sustained cuts and burns to her hand. The overnight rocket strike on the Holosiyivsky district claimed one more life and left one person injured. Police later confirmed that the combined toll from both attacks had risen to five dead and 36 wounded in the capital.

A heating plant was also struck during the attacks. President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that, as in previous incidents, no advance warning had been provided by the United States. Ukraine is preparing to enter its fourth winter since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
