Florian Wirtz stars as Germany beat Serbia 3-1 in UEFA Nations League

1 min read

Germany put on an impressive display at home on Friday, beating Serbia 3-1 in a UEFA Nations League Group A4 fixture in what was billed as one of the marquee matches of the international break.

Florian Wirtz was the standout performer, dictating play from midfield with his characteristic creativity and technical quality. He opened the scoring with a curling effort in the 18th minute, then set up Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala for the second and third goals. Serbia's goal came from a Stefan Mitrovic header in the 67th minute.

The result keeps Germany top of their Nations League group and continues the national team's impressive run of form under coach Julian Nagelsmann. Wirtz, who turns 24 in May, has established himself as the key creative force in the Germany setup and is widely regarded as one of Europe's most exciting attacking midfielders.

Germany's next Nations League fixture is at home against Iceland next Tuesday, while Serbia face a must-win clash against the Netherlands.
