France plans around 500 protests and 90 marches on October 17

1 min read

French labor unions and left-wing organizations have announced approximately 500 protest actions and more than 90 demonstrations scheduled for Saturday, October 17, across France, with the largest gatherings expected in Paris. The protests target government economic and social policies, including pension reforms and budget cuts.

The mobilization reflects ongoing tensions between the French government and workers' organizations, which have staged a series of industrial actions throughout 2026. Union leaders have called for broad participation to press demands for wage increases, pension improvements, and opposition to austerity measures.
