Drone Attack Sets Gazprom Salavat Refinery on Fire in Russia's Bashkortostan

1 min read

A drone strike likely caused a fire at the Gazpromneft Salavat petrochemical complex in Russia's Bashkortostan republic on October 8, Telegram channels and OSINT sources reported. The facility is located near the city of Salavat, approximately 1,400 km from Ukraine's border.

Scale of the Facility

Gazpromneft Salavat is one of Russia's largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes, processing up to 10 million tonnes of hydrocarbons per year. Its products include motor fuel, diesel, bitumen, polyethylene, styrene and ammonia. The plant belongs to the Gazprom group and is under international sanctions imposed by Canada, Switzerland, the EU, UK, Australia, New Zealand, the US and Japan.

Previous Strikes

The facility has been targeted repeatedly. A September 2025 strike damaged a primary distillation unit; a July 14, 2026 attack triggered a fire and halted oil processing entirely; another fire followed on August 13, 2026. The October 8 incident is the fourth known strike on the complex.
