Ukrainian Member of Parliament Danylo Getmantsev denied on Monday, 14 September, that he is being considered as a candidate for the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Getmantsev, who chairs the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, called the reports untrue.
Speculation about the Prosecutor General post has intensified following recent political turbulence in Kyiv, including the dismissal of senior officials and the ongoing NABU investigation connected to former Defence Minister Rustem Umerov's circle. The position of Prosecutor General is among the most sensitive in the Ukrainian state, overseeing the country's prosecution service.
Getmantsev stated clearly that he had no intention of taking the role and that the information being circulated had no basis in fact. He has been one of the most prominent voices in the Rada on economic and fiscal policy throughout the war.
