Two criminals who used romantic deception to lure men before drugging and robbing them have been jailed, following the deaths of their victims. Adina Mihai and Madalin Dumitru administered the sedative drug GBL to render targets unconscious before stealing from them.
The pair employed a so-called honeytrap approach, building the trust of male victims before introducing GBL — a chemical that can cause loss of consciousness and, in high doses, death. The victims were left unable to defend themselves and the criminal enterprise resulted in fatalities.
Both Mihai and Dumitru were found guilty and sentenced to prison. The court heard evidence about their systematic method of targeting victims, and the judge emphasised the severity of their crimes and the harm inflicted.
