Houthi Rebels Strike Two Saudi Arabian Airports, Three Wounded
Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen struck two airports in the south of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, causing injuries and infrastructure damage. Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in the city of Jizan and Najran International Airport were both damaged in the attacks, with three people wounded.
Aden airport also targeted
Authorities in Aden, the base of Yemen's internationally recognized government, also reported an attack on their city's airport. Security forces stated that two rockets were fired at the airport facility. The full extent of damage at all three locations is still being assessed.
The Houthis have escalated attacks on Gulf states in recent months, targeting airports, oil infrastructure, and maritime traffic in the Red Sea. The assaults are part of the group's stated strategy of pressuring regional powers over the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Yemen's civil war, which has seen Saudi Arabia and a coalition of Gulf states fighting against Houthi forces since 2015.
