Italy Calls US Restricting Intel to Ukraine an Absolute Serious Mistake
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto sharply criticized reports that the US is restricting Ukraine access to satellite systems and intelligence data used to defend against Russian attacks. In BBC interview, Crosetto called such Trump administration actions absolutely senseless.
Crosetto Warning
Peace will come when Putin is convinced the situation has reached a deadlock, that he cannot win, Crosetto stated. Any such step by the Trump administration makes absolutely no sense and could lead to prolonging the full-scale invasion rather than establishing peace. He emphasized that Starlink and intelligence data are critical for protecting civilians from missile and drone strikes.
Broader Context
Crosetto remarks come as multiple reports circulate about the US limiting satellite internet and reconnaissance data access for Ukraine. Trump denied initiating any restrictions. Italy has been one of Ukraine consistent European supporters, providing air defense systems throughout the conflict.
