Russian Ballistic Missile Strikes Kharkiv, Causing Casualties
A Russian ballistic missile struck the Slobidsky district of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed the strike and reported that there were casualties, with first responders working at the scene.
Casualties Confirmed
Among those affected was a 25-year-old woman who did not sustain physical injuries but sought medical attention for an acute stress reaction — a recognised trauma response to sudden violence. The full extent of casualties was still being assessed at the time of reporting.
Kharkiv Under Sustained Attack
Kharkiv, located just 30 kilometres from the Russian border, has endured some of the heaviest aerial bombardment of any Ukrainian city throughout the war. Ballistic missiles, which are harder to intercept than drones or cruise missiles, have caused significant civilian casualties in the city across multiple strikes.
