Kushner and Witkoff to Travel to Norway for Ukraine Peace Talks
Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, and special Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Norway this week for the next round of talks on ending the war in Ukraine, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to take part in the meetings.
Tension between Washington and Kyiv
The talks come amid worsening relations between Washington and Kyiv over restrictions on Starshield and intelligence sharing.
One source also said US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has still not authorised the delivery of the latest package of American weapons purchased by NATO allies under the PURL programme. The source could not confirm whether the package includes missiles for Patriot systems. The White House has not officially commented.
Zelensky has accused Trump of trying to pressure Ukraine into capitulation and of delaying Patriot interceptor deliveries, while Trump has accused Zelensky of never wanting to end the war.
Earlier contacts
We reported that Zelensky spoke with Witkoff and Kushner after Florida talks, and that US envoys threatened to cut Ukraine's intelligence over strikes on Russian refineries.
