Kyiv city defence council convenes emergency session over Paton bridge situation
Kyiv's city defence council has convened an emergency session to address the situation around the Paton bridge, which spans the Dnipro River and serves as a critical transport artery for the capital.
The council meeting follows recent Russian missile and drone strikes targeting Kyiv's infrastructure, with officials confirming structural assessments are underway to determine the extent of any damage to the bridge.
The Paton bridge is one of the main crossings over the Dnipro and carries significant civilian and military traffic. Any damage to major crossings could severely impact movement within the city and complicate evacuation and supply logistics.
Kyiv city authorities have urged residents near the bridge to remain calm while inspections are conducted by engineering teams. Traffic management measures have been put in place as a precaution.
