Fifteen people were injured, including two children, in Russia's overnight ballistic missile attack on Kyiv on 22 October, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

"As a result of the enemy shelling overnight on 22 October, 15 people were injured in the capital. Among them are two children, both 15 years old," Klitschko said.

Eight of the injured are in hospital in city hospitals, he added.

Damage in Pechersk and on the metro

Russian forces struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles overnight. In the Pechersk district an ambulance station was damaged; Klitschko later said the building and six ambulances were hit, with no casualties among medical staff. On the Pivdennyi Bridge, part of the metro infrastructure was damaged, so traffic was partly restricted.

The Kyiv city administration said trains on the green line temporarily ran only between Syrets and Vydubychi and between Osokorky and Chervony Khutir, with longer intervals. In the Sviatoshynskyi district a restaurant building caught fire.

Air raid and drone alerts sounded several times in the capital from the evening of 21 October. According to the monitoring channel Monitor, Russia launched at least 25 Iskander, Oniks and Zircon missiles at Kyiv and its surroundings over the evening and night.

The evening attack

On the evening of 21 October Russia had already struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles, injuring six people; we covered it in a separate report.
