1 min read

Ukrainian emergency service pyrotechnicians safely extracted a ballistic missile warhead and the remaining debris of the missile from a courtyard in Kyiv's Obolon district, the State Emergency Service of Kyiv reported. The operation followed a Russian missile strike that hit the residential area on October 10.

Details of the operation

The State Emergency Service stated: "In Kyiv at the site of one of the enemy strikes in the Obolon district, a pyrotechnic team from the group for pyrotechnic work, underwater and humanitarian demining of the APC Special Forces removed the warhead and safe remains of a ballistic missile."

The missile fell in the courtyard of residential apartment buildings, damaging a one-story structure on the premises. No additional casualties from this specific incident were reported.

October 10 strikes

The previous day, October 10, Russian forces carried out a missile attack on Kyiv that struck the Obolon district in multiple locations. One impact hit a restaurant building, while missile fragments fell in a separate residential courtyard in the same district. Prior to those strikes, drone debris also damaged a 25-story residential building and an 8-story office building in the Solomianski district.

Safety reminder

Ukraine's emergency services reminded citizens that in the event of finding suspicious objects, people should move away and immediately call 101 or 112 without attempting to touch or move any unidentified items.
