Pro-Ukraine PM's Coalition Leads in Latvia's Pre-Election Polls

1 min read

The United List bloc led by Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs is ahead in opinion polls with just two days to go before Latvia's parliamentary elections, according to the latest surveys. Kulbergs is known for his pro-Ukraine stance and has been a strong supporter of aid to Ukraine during the Russian war of aggression.

Election Context

Latvia is one of the Baltic states that has been among the most steadfast supporters of Ukraine. The parliamentary elections will determine the composition of the Saeima, Latvia's parliament. If the United List bloc wins, it is expected to continue the country's pro-EU and pro-Ukraine foreign policy course.

The Baltic states — Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia — have consistently called for stronger Western support for Ukraine and increased defense spending within NATO.
