Latvian Court Sentences Pro-Kremlin Activist to Six Years for Aiding Russian Military

1 min read

A court in Latvia sentenced Polina Kamliova to six years in prison and three years of probationary supervision for transferring 43 euros to help procure drone-jamming equipment for the Russian military.

The prosecution had sought a harsher sentence of eight years for the pro-Kremlin activist. The case is part of Latvia's ongoing efforts to prosecute individuals who provide material or financial support for Russia's war effort.

Latvia, a NATO member bordering Russia, has been particularly vigilant about rooting out support networks for Russia since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
