Libya's Rival Factions Agree on Elections Within Two Years

Libya's rival political and military factions have reached an agreement to hold national elections within two years, mediated by UNSMIL. The agreement brings together Prime Minister Dbaiba's Tripoli-based Government of National Unity and Field Marshal Haftar's Libyan National Army in the east.

UNSMIL described the accord as an important step toward resolving the country's prolonged political crisis. US envoy Massad Boulos conducted shuttle diplomacy between Tripoli and Benghazi. Libya has been mired in conflict since the fall of Gaddafi in 2011.
