Macron Denies CIA Warned France About Russian Drone Attacks

1 min read

French President Emmanuel Macron flatly denied media reports claiming the CIA had warned France about a Russian drone attack. In a television interview, Macron disputed a report by Spanish newspaper El Mundo alleging CIA warnings about possible Russian drone strikes against Spain, France, or Italy.

Macron’s Direct Denial

Macron stated: “This information we can deny. The CIA did not inform French services about such an attack.” He added, however, that “the situation is becoming increasingly tense, and this is worrying.”

The French president recalled the drone attempt at Leipzig airport in Germany, noting that France had not experienced such attacks but “it could happen.” He described Russia’s actions toward European countries as “hostile and sometimes criminal.”

Russia Mobilization Concerns

Macron also addressed Russian military mobilization, saying a scenario of 300,000 additional troops “appears plausible to us.” Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto similarly rejected the El Mundo report. NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Alexus Grynkewich called for allies to strengthen intelligence sharing in response to the wave of Russian sabotage incidents.
