Man Injured by Russian Mine in Kherson
A 66-year-old man was wounded on Friday evening after stepping on a Russian mine in the Korabelny district of Kherson, the Kherson Regional Military Administration announced.
According to the authorities, the explosion caused a blast trauma, a bone fracture in one leg, and shrapnel wounds in the other leg. The victim was hospitalized and is receiving medical care.
Kherson and its surrounding areas remain heavily contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance left by Russian forces during the occupation of the city, which lasted until November 2022. Mine clearance operations are ongoing, but the scale of contamination means the threat will persist for years.
