On the night of March 29, 2026, Russian forces unleashed a large-scale aerial bombardment against Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the offensive involved an aeroballistic "Kinzhal" missile alongside a staggering 442 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), of which approximately 300 were identified as "Shahed" kamikaze drones.
Preliminary reports from military officials indicate a highly active night for Ukrainian air defense systems. Defense forces successfully shot down or electronically suppressed 380 of the incoming enemy drones. Despite these intense interception efforts, some projectiles breached the defensive shield.
Authorities recorded direct hits from 16 strike drones across 7 different locations. Furthermore, falling debris from intercepted UAVs was documented in 14 additional areas, causing various degrees of localized damage.
As of the morning of March 29, the danger had not entirely passed. The Air Force noted that the attack was still ongoing, with several hostile drones continuing to operate within Ukrainian airspace.
