Moldova is prepared to receive a new wave of Ukrainian refugees if the situation in Ukraine this winter proves as difficult as the world expects, President Maia Sandu said at the Moldova Security Forum in Chisinau. Sandu stated: since 2022 more than 1 million Ukrainians who fled the war arrived in Moldova, about 100,000 found their home here. If this winter in Ukraine is as difficult as the whole world expects, we are ready to receive as many people as need safety. Presidential special representative Dorin Rechan confirmed Moldova is preparing in humanitarian, logistical, and energy dimensions. Moldovan and Ukrainian electricity grids are interconnected, so Moldova also needs to prepare for potential energy infrastructure problems. EU representative Dorota Dloughy-Suliga said the EU will continue supporting Ukrainian energy, including supplying generators.
