Netflix has officially confirmed that a third Inbetweeners film is in production, with the original cast of the beloved British coming-of-age comedy returning to reprise their roles. Simon Bird (Will McKenzie), James Buckley (Jay Cartwright), Blake Harrison (Neil Sutherland) and Joe Thomas (Simon Cooper) are all set to appear in The Inbetweeners 3, with production starting on September 8, 2026.
The Inbetweeners 3 will be a Netflix original, marking a departure from the Film4 backing that supported the first two film sequels, which were released in 2011 and 2014. The original creators, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, are returning to write and direct the film. In announcing the project, Beesley and Morris said it had been super fun hanging out with friends again and pledged to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans. Netflix released a short teaser video showing the four characters reuniting around their iconic yellow Fiat, which struggles to start before eventually driving out of what appears to be a storage unit.
Beyond the lead four, the rest of the cast has not been confirmed. Fans are particularly curious whether Emily Atack, who played Charlotte Hinchcliffe, or Emily Head, who played Carli D'Amato, will return. The Inbetweeners ran for three series on E4 between 2008 and 2010. The first film holds the record for the biggest opening weekend for a UK comedy at the time of its release, according to Netflix.
