A routine military mobilization patrol escalated into a violent confrontation in Odesa, leaving a recruitment officer and a civilian injured. The incident, which took place in the city's Peresyp district, was initially brought to the attention of local law enforcement through social media monitoring.
According to the Odesa regional police, a notification group identified a man who had violated military registration rules. The situation deteriorated when officers attempted to escort the individual to the Territorial Center for Recruitment (TCC). During the attempted detention, the man attacked a military serviceman, stabbing him with a knife.
The police confirmed the sequence of events, stating: "Law enforcement officers learned about the incident in the Peresyp district of the city from monitoring social networks. It was preliminarily established that during mobilization activities, a notification group discovered a man who violated military registration rules. During an attempt to deliver the latter to the territorial recruitment center, he wounded a serviceman with a knife."
The conflict further escalated when local passersby intervened to obstruct the recruitment officers. The crowd blocked the exit from the residential courtyard, preventing the military personnel from leaving the area.
In response to the blockage, a TCC serviceman discharged a traumatic weapon, designed to fire non-lethal projectiles, striking one of the interfering civilians.
Authorities have confirmed that both the stabbed military officer and the wounded bystander were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the clash.
