Odessa: 35 Casualties After Massive Russian Missile and Drone Attack

A massive Russian missile and drone strike on the Ukrainian port city of Odessa on Saturday left at least 35 people wounded, with search and rescue teams continuing to work at several impact sites, regional authorities said. Two people remained unaccounted for beneath the rubble.

Attack Details

Russia targeted multiple locations across Odessa in a coordinated strike involving cruise missiles and Shahed drones. Residential buildings, infrastructure facilities and commercial properties were among the targets hit. Ukrainian air defence systems managed to intercept a portion of the incoming threats, but some broke through.

Earlier Strike on Multi-Story Building

An earlier Russian strike earlier in the day hit a multi-story residential building in Odessa, injuring 17 people. Saturday's broader attack followed overnight strikes on multiple Ukrainian cities as part of what officials describe as intensified Russian bombardment ahead of the winter heating season.

Russia is deliberately escalating its attacks on civilian areas to create maximum fear and suffering before winter.

Emergency services were deployed throughout the city to provide medical assistance to the wounded and assess damage to infrastructure. The Ukrainian military reported that air defences were operating at full capacity throughout the night.
