A tragic incident unfolded in Ukraine's Poltava region on the evening of March 30, when debris from a downed Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed into a multi-story residential building, resulting in fatal casualties.
Local authorities confirmed that the falling wreckage caused significant damage to the apartment complex. According to Vitalii Diakivnych, Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, the incident initially left one person injured. However, the situation worsened as rescue operations continued.
In a subsequent update provided at 01:30, Diakivnych shared the grim reality of the attack:
"According to updated information, unfortunately, one person has died. Three people are injured. Two have been hospitalized, including an eleven-year-old boy."
Prior to the debris falling, the regional head had reported active air defense operations within the Poltava district as Ukrainian forces worked to intercept the incoming Russian drones. Authorities are currently continuing to assess the full extent of the structural damage and provide necessary assistance to the affected residents.
