Over 1,200 False Bomb Threats Target Ukrainian Institutions in Massive Cyber Campaign

A massive wave of anonymous bomb threats swept across Ukraine on Monday, March 30, targeting a wide array of public and private institutions. According to the National Police and Kyiv Police, authorities were inundated with over a thousand fake alerts aimed at disrupting daily operations.

Coordinated Email Campaign

The barrage of threats began at 11:00 local time. Perpetrators utilized email to send simultaneous warnings to various sectors across the country. The National Police released an official statement detailing the scope of the incident:

"March 30 from 11:00, anonymous messages about the mining of buildings continue to be massively received at the e-mail addresses of state authorities, local governments, educational institutions, enterprises, organizations, banks, and other institutions. As of 14:50, police units received 1,216 messages."

Swift Law Enforcement Response

Emergency services and police units were promptly dispatched to secure and inspect the targeted locations. By 15:00, law enforcement officials reported that they had successfully processed and cleared 20% of the received threats.

Authorities quickly determined the nature of the campaign, reassuring the public that the threats lacked credibility. "In none of the verified cases was the information about the mining confirmed," the police stated, officially categorizing the widespread alerts as a large-scale hoax.
