Petition Demanding Zelensky Hold Open Press Conference Reaches 25,000 Signatures

1 min read

A petition demanding that President Volodymyr Zelensky hold an open press conference with independent Ukrainian and international media has collected the 25,000 signatures required for mandatory presidential consideration, as of September 30, 2026.

The petition was posted on August 27 by journalist Anna Repina and was registered on its sixth attempt — previous versions were repeatedly rejected by the Office of the President. The petition requests a press conference open to major Ukrainian and international outlets including Ukrainska Pravda, Bihus.Info, Slidstvo.Info, Radio Liberty, Hromadske, The Kyiv Independent, Suspilne, NV, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, BBC Ukraine, and Liga.net, with journalists able to ask questions without pre-approval.

Previous Rejection

In August 2026, a previous petition on the same subject was formally rejected by the Office of the President. As of September 30, the Office of the President had not commented on the newly qualified petition. Under Ukrainian law, petitions that collect 25,000 signatures must receive a formal response from the president.
