Poland Discussed Permanent US Military Presence with Trump

Polish official Navroskyi held talks with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly regarding a permanent American military presence in Poland.

Strategic Significance

Poland has long sought a permanent US base on its territory, arguing that a rotational presence is insufficient given Russia's ongoing aggression in Ukraine. Warsaw believes a permanent base would serve as a stronger deterrent against Russian military expansion.

Poland is among the highest defense spenders in NATO relative to GDP, and has been a key hub for Western military logistics supporting Ukraine since 2022.
