Poland Police Alerted to Alleged Assassination Plot Against PM Tusk

1 min read

Polish police have received information about a potential assassination attempt targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, according to a spokesperson for the minister-coordinator of special services.

Emergency meeting convened

The minister-coordinator of special services, Tomasz Siemoniak, and the interior minister ordered immediate action. A meeting of the Internal Security Agency and representatives of services under the Interior Ministry and Administration — including the police and the State Security Service — was scheduled for 11:00 Warsaw time on October 11.

Spokesperson Jacek Dobrzyński stated: "In connection with information received by the police regarding a possible assassination attempt against Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister and National Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the minister-coordinator of special services and the interior minister have ordered measures to be taken in this matter."

Context: Russian hybrid threats

The alert comes amid growing concerns about Russian-linked hybrid operations targeting Poland. Prime Minister Tusk had previously stated that intelligence data indicated Russian plans for hybrid strikes against Poland. The country has significantly ramped up its security posture following repeated incidents attributed to Russian influence operations in recent months.
