Rada committee recommends approval of parcel legislation package required by EU
The relevant committee of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has voted to recommend that the parliament adopt a package of legislation governing postal parcel deliveries. The package is among the reform conditions tied to Ukraine's receipt of EU macro-financial assistance tranches.
The legislation aims to bring Ukraine's postal services sector into alignment with EU standards, covering areas including customs processing of international parcels, consumer protection, and postal service operator licensing. These reforms are part of Ukraine's broader alignment with the EU regulatory framework as part of its accession process.
EU financial support to Ukraine under its Ukraine Facility instrument is structured around milestone-based disbursements, with specific legislative and reform requirements that Ukraine must meet to unlock each tranche of funding.
The committee's recommendation moves the legislation forward for a plenary vote. Ukraine has been working to meet EU reform conditionalities despite the ongoing war, demonstrating its commitment to the European integration path.
