Raducanu to Miss US Open as She Continues Recovery from Stress Fracture

British tennis star Emma Raducanu has confirmed she will miss the 2026 US Open as she continues her recovery from a stress fracture to her right lower leg. The 23-year-old suffered the injury during the grass-court season and made a late withdrawal from Wimbledon. The US Open begins at Flushing Meadows on 23 August.

A Frustrating 12 Months

The decision followed the latest consultations with her medical team. Raducanu had only recently stepped back on court wearing a protective boot. The past year has been particularly challenging: a foot injury hampered her pre-season training, followed by two and a half months off court after contracting a post-viral illness in early February.

She had returned to the tour by rehiring Andrew Richardson — the coach who guided her to the US Open title in 2021 — and enjoyed one of her best weeks in years when she reached her biggest final since New York at Queen's Club in June.
