Russian Drone Attack Destroys Enterprise in Ukraine's Rivne Region

A Russian drone strike on Friday destroyed an industrial enterprise in Ukraine's Rivne region, in the northwest of the country, regional authorities confirmed. The attack caused a large fire at the facility and significant structural damage, though emergency services were able to contain the blaze within several hours.

According to the Rivne Regional Military Administration, the drone struck the enterprise in the early afternoon, triggering explosions and a fire that spread across multiple buildings on the premises. The exact nature of the enterprise has not been disclosed for security reasons.

Fortunately, workers at the facility were able to evacuate before the fire spread to production areas. No casualties were reported among staff or emergency responders, though several outbuildings were completely destroyed.

Local authorities said damage assessments are ongoing and that the facility's restoration timeline will depend on the extent of structural damage. They described the attack as part of a broader Russian strategy of targeting Ukraine's industrial and economic infrastructure ahead of the winter season.

The Rivne region, located in northwestern Ukraine, has experienced periodic drone and missile attacks over the course of the conflict, though it sits far from the active front lines in the east and south. Critical infrastructure in the region has been targeted multiple times since 2022.

Ukraine's Air Force said its air defense systems were operating throughout the country Friday morning and that several drones were intercepted before reaching their targets, though some managed to penetrate defenses in the northwest.
