Romania Officially Denies Any Military Involvement in Operations in Ukraine

Romania's Defense Ministry and Foreign Ministry jointly issued a statement Tuesday strongly denying allegations that Romanian military forces are directly participating in operations inside Ukraine.

The denial came in response to claims circulated on Russian state media and social media channels alleging that Romanian personnel had been identified operating inside Ukrainian territory. Romanian officials called the reports "disinformation" and said they were part of a broader Russian influence operation aimed at creating division within NATO.

Romania is one of Ukraine's closest neighbors and has been an active supporter of Ukraine since the 2022 invasion, providing humanitarian aid, weapons, and hosting Ukrainian refugees. Romania also hosts significant NATO military infrastructure, including air defense systems and a US ballistic missile defense site.

The Romanian statement affirmed that its military engagement with Ukraine remains within the framework of NATO agreements and that no Romanian soldiers are deployed on Ukrainian soil in combat roles.

Russia has repeatedly accused NATO countries of direct military involvement in the Ukraine conflict, claims that Western governments have consistently denied.
