Rubio: Ukraine Would Not Exist Without US Aid, Praises Its ‘Incredible’ Fight

1 min read

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Ukraine could not have preserved its existence without Washington’s support, provided both under President Joe Biden and under the current administration, according to Evropeiska Pravda, citing Clash Report.

Answering reporters’ questions, Rubio said no other country has helped Ukraine to the extent the United States has.

“Let’s be honest”

“Ukraine would not exist if it were not for the assistance the United States provided to Ukraine, starting with the Biden administration and continuing during this administration,” the US Secretary of State said.

Still, Rubio added, the courage of Ukrainian soldiers in repelling Russian aggression deserves recognition. “They are defending themselves very bravely in the fight against a much larger country, and they are doing incredible things with the help we give them. But let’s be honest, Ukraine would not exist right now if not for the billions of dollars the US provided,” Rubio said.

Background

On 20 October Zelensky called his conversation with Rubio “positive” and announced another one. He also said that during contacts with US representatives on 20 October they discussed security guarantees for Ukraine in detail.
