Russia Launches 135 Drones at Ukraine Overnight — Hits at 5 Locations
Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight into October 4 using 135 drones of multiple types, Ukraine's Air Force reported. Air defense systems downed or jammed 123 of the attacking aircraft, but confirmed hits were recorded at five separate locations.
Drone Types Used
The attack employed several drone models: Shahed attack drones (including 52 reactive Shaheds), Gerber-type drones, Banderol/Dan-T cruise drones, and decoy drones. The use of reactive Shaheds — which fly faster and are harder to intercept — marked a continued escalation in Russian drone tactics.
Air Defense Results
As of 08:30, Ukraine's air defense systems had shot down or electronically suppressed 123 enemy drones, including Shaheds, Gerbers, and other types, as well as two Banderol/Dan-T drones. Wreckage of downed drones fell at five additional locations. The attack was still ongoing at the time of the report.
