Russia Strikes Third Passenger Train in One Morning in Sumy, Passengers Wounded

Russian forces struck a suburban diesel train in Sumy region on the morning of September 8, injuring passengers with shrapnel — marking the third attack on passenger trains in a single morning, according to Ukrzaliznytsia head Oleksandr Pertsovskyi.

Pertsovskyi wrote: 'Once again a strike in Sumy region against a suburban diesel train. And once again there was an early security stop when a threat was detected — passengers were evacuated. According to preliminary information, however, not all were at a sufficient safe distance — there are passengers with shrapnel wounds.'

He added that first aid was provided to the wounded by the train crew on site, with medical personnel arriving shortly after. Pertsovskyi urged passengers in frontline communities to immediately go to shelter or move more than 200 metres from the train when a security stop is announced.

This was the third train attack on the morning of September 8. Earlier Russian forces struck the Kyiv-Sumy passenger train in Sumy region, causing a fire and forcing evacuation of 90 people without casualties. Russia also struck the Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia train, igniting a blaze with one conductor unreachable.
