Russia Claims It Intercepted Over 550 Ukrainian Drones Overnight

1 min read

Russia's Defense Ministry claimed on October 4 that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 559 Ukrainian drones during the overnight period from 8:00 PM on October 3 to 8:00 AM on October 4.

Regions Mentioned in Russian Claim

According to the Russian Defense Ministry statement, air defense systems were active over Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel, Rostov, Smolensk, and Tula regions, as well as the Moscow region, the Republic of Adygea, Krasnodar Krai, occupied Crimea, and over the Azov and Black Seas.

Independent verification of Russia's claimed figures is not possible. Ukraine regularly conducts drone strikes deep into Russian territory targeting military infrastructure, fuel depots, and airfields. Russia routinely inflates interception numbers in its official statements.
