Russian Drone Strike on Lozova Kills One Woman, Wounds Seven

1 min read

Russian forces struck the city of Lozova in Kharkiv region with drones on October 12, 2026, killing a woman and wounding seven others, including a child. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Kharkiv regional prosecutors confirmed the casualties.

Attack Details

According to authorities, Russian drones targeted residential neighborhoods in Lozova. Two fires broke out as a result — one on the roof of a residential building and another on the grounds of a nearby property. The 71-year-old woman killed was identified by prosecutors. Among the wounded was a 9-year-old girl.

Type of Weapon

Investigators determined that Russian forces used Geran-3 type drones in the attack. These are a variant of the Shahed drone — an Iranian-designed unmanned aerial vehicle that Russia has employed extensively against Ukrainian civilian targets since 2022.

Context

Kharkiv region, bordering Russia, has faced persistent missile and drone attacks throughout the war. The latest strike occurs in the same week that US President Donald Trump brokered a so-called energy ceasefire with Russia, which has been widely dismissed as ineffective given the continuation of attacks against Ukrainian civilians.
