Russia launched a massive aerial attack on Ukraine overnight on September 19, firing two Tsirkon hypersonic anti-ship missiles from Kursk Oblast and 174 attack and decoy drones, including Shahed variants. Half of the drones were jet-propelled reactive models. The Ukrainian Air Force reported the details early Saturday morning.

Air Defense Results

By 08:00, Ukrainian air defenses had destroyed or jammed 141 targets: three Banderole/Dan-T drones and 138 other unmanned aerial vehicles. Both Tsirkon missiles failed to reach their targets, and their fall locations were still being determined at the time of reporting. Aerial weapon hits were recorded at 15 locations, with debris falling at nine additional sites.

Main Attack Directions

The primary attack directions were the Odesa and Kyiv regions. At the time of the report, the attack was still ongoing with more than ten Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace. The assault followed a September 18 strike on Sumy using guided aerial bombs that hit a residential building, killing two people and wounding eight others including two children.
